  • Welcome to November 2008 Edition of "Asian Golf Travel Nation" the source for news breaking information about Thailand Golf, Vietnam Golf, and Cambodia Golf. In addition, unique golf playing tips for Indochina's tropical environment, announcements of golf travel promotions, and our latest subscription offer are all integral parts of today's newsletter.

As you can see, we have changed to a monthly newsletter with a fresh look and feel. Most of the previous sections have been retained, but now since we will be published more frequently you can have more current information. I hope you like our new look. Please let me know any feedback you have.

The big talk nowadays obviously is the world's economic situation. The travel industry here is bracing a slow travel year as a result of the world's situation, which maybe good news for golfers (see below). Golfasian is responding in several ways. For our exclusive golf tours we are now offering a choice of 4-star and 5-star accommodations to suit a wider variety of budgets. In addition, we have worked closely with our key partners (golf courses and resorts) to come up with some super valued packages for travel in January and February 2009. In some cases we have negotiated lower costs and in other instances our suppliers have offered COMPLIMENTARY golf and/or FREE room upgrades. There are only a few tee times and room upgrades available to us and they are strictly on a first come first serve basis. Email me if you want more information. Lastly, for those already in the region, there are a number of new "shorter golf breaks" that we have made available to golf destinations like Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, Saigon, Bangkok and Seam Reap. Once again, email me for more information on these shorter golf tours, you will be surprised at the possibilities.

Remember if you want to get regular updates about golf in Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia, then sign-up for uninterrupted email delivery of this newsletter. In addition, all persons signing up will automatically receive the latest "Thailand Golf Insider Tips" special report.

Until the next month, get in those last round before winter, and remember, think positive and YOU WILL SHOOT PAR.

    Mark Siegel
    Managing Director

The Best of Indochina

  • Working with a spectacular, undulating natural topography, English born golf course architect Desmond Muirhead has created one of Pattaya’s most interesting golf courses, as St Andrews was built to replicate a Scottish links course. Located in Rayong, about 40 minutes from Pattaya and 1.5 hours from Bangkok, St. Andrews is accessible for golfers staying in either city. The golf course offers an uncompromising challenge aimed at players with handicaps of 18 or lower. Playing at over 7700 yards to a par 74, this is one of Thailand's toughest courses. For Golfing in Indochina

  • One thing all golfers have in common is an obsession for more distance. In their attempt to hit John Daly-like distances most players grip the club as tight as they can and try to hit as hard as they can. However, in order to hit the ball a long way, you should try just the opposite. However, in order to make a big turn your muscles must be relaxed. Many players can gain an extra 5-10 yards on their drives if they just relax, think "long and wide" and concentrate on making solid contact rather than trying to knock the ball into the next galaxy.
